Maharashtra: Sunetra Pawar Could Become Deputy CM After Ajit Pawar Plane Crash; Praful Patel, Chhagan Bhujbal Hold Crucial Meeting

New Delhi: Following the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash, his wife, Sunetra Pawar, may become the state's Deputy Chief Minister. Praful Patel, Chhagan Bhujbal, Dhananjay Munde, and Sunil Tatkare met with Sunetra Pawar.

What is the proposal regarding Sunetra Pawar?

According to sources, a proposal to make Sunetra Pawar the Deputy Chief Minister will be put forward. Sunetra Pawar may contest the election from her late husband Ajit Pawar's constituency.

It is also being said that Praful Patel may become the president of the NCP. He will meet with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss this proposal. The merger of the NCP (SP) may also be discussed during this meeting.

When asked about the future of the NCP after Ajit Pawar's death, NCP leader Narhari Zirwal said that people are expressing their desire to see "Vahini" (Sunetra Pawar) included in the cabinet. Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is a key party in the ruling Mahayuti alliance in the state, which also includes the BJP and Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena. Sunetra Pawar is currently a Rajya Sabha MP.

How did Ajit Pawar's plane crash happen?

It may be recalled that Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's plane crashed in Baramati on Wednesday. Five people, including Ajit Pawar, died in the incident. Along with Ajit Pawar, there was a security guard, two pilots, and a female crew member on board. Ajit Pawar was scheduled to address rallies for the district council elections to be held in Pune on February 5th. He had left Mumbai for Baramati in the morning. However, the accident occurred during landing.

On Wednesday, Ajit Pawar's plane crashed in an area next to the landing strip. The aircraft lost control during landing. Eyewitnesses said that the plane wobbled while attempting to land and crashed in an instant. After the crash, there were about five explosions, and the plane became a ball of fire. After the accident, the plane was completely destroyed, and all those on board died.
