International News: In many Muslim countries, alcohol is banned because Islam considers drinking it a sin. According to a WHO report, several Muslim countries have been mentioned where alcohol consumption is high. According to WHO, countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Sudan, and Bahrain are among the Arab nations where per capita consumption of alcohol has increased. According to a survey conducted in Jordan, only 3 per cent of university students consume alcohol. In Pakistan, India’s neighboring country, alcohol is banned, yet alcohol consumption there is increasing. In Pakistan, the punishment for drinking alcohol is 80 lashes.

How It's Consumed

All over the world, alcohol consumption is considered harmful to health. At present, there are also some Muslim countries where it is used as medicine. In many countries, permission to consume alcohol is only granted for medicinal purposes. In Bangladesh too, alcohol consumption is banned, but often news emerges about alcohol smuggling from Bangladesh. Although in Saudi Arabia alcohol is banned for ordinary people, in 2019, when alcohol was completely banned inside Saudi, 19 people died after consuming poisonous alcohol. From this, it is clear that despite all the strict prohibitions, alcohol is still secretly sold and consumed in Muslim countries.
