New Delhi: Amid ongoing concerns over fuel and supply disruptions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially ordered the size of his convoy to be reduced, taking concrete steps to cut government spending and promote frugality. This initiative will not only save government resources but also set an example for ministers and officials.

What is the direction regarding convoy?

According to reports, the Prime Minister has directed the Special Protection Group (SPG) deployed for his security to reduce the number of vehicles in his convoy by 50 per cent. He has also expressed a desire to increase the number of electric vehicles in the convoy, but has put a hold on purchasing new vehicles to avoid additional expenses.

Has the action started?

According to reports, the SPG has begun complying with this directive while ensuring compliance with mandatory security protocols. Recent travels outside Delhi have seen significantly reduced convoy sizes for the Prime Minister. The security agency is ensuring that the security standards set out in the Blue Book are not compromised.

What did PM Modi say?

During his visit to Hyderabad on Sunday, Prime Minister Modi directly appealed to the public to reduce fuel and gold consumption. Sources say that the Prime Minister's personal initiative is a clear signal to the entire government machinery to adopt frugality.

Government departments have also been asked to suggest ways to reduce expenditures. This move is expected to prompt various central government ministries and departments to review their expenditures and curb unnecessary spending.

This decision comes at a time when the government is emphasizing economic discipline and self-reliance. The Prime Minister's move is seen as a powerful symbol, demonstrating that we first demonstrate what we preach
