In a monumental stride towards sustainable development and industrial progress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects exceeding ₹2 lakh crore in Andhra Pradesh on January 8. The announcement underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, fostering industrial growth, and advancing green energy initiatives.
Among the key projects, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the NTPC Green Energy Limited Green Hydrogen Hub in Pudimadaka, near Visakhapatnam. This ambitious project, the first under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, involves an investment of ₹1.85 lakh crore. It aims to establish a massive integrated facility for producing 1,500 TPD Green Hydrogen and 7,500 TPD derivatives such as Green Methanol and Sustainable Aviation Fuel, focusing on export markets. With plans to generate 20 GW of renewable energy, this project will significantly contribute to India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030.
PM Modi will also initiate railway and road projects worth ₹19,500 crore, including the establishment of the South Coast Railway Headquarters in Visakhapatnam. These initiatives aim to decongest transportation networks, boost connectivity, and stimulate socio-economic growth in the region. Additionally, the foundation for the Bulk Drug Park in Anakapalli district will be laid, creating thousands of jobs and accelerating economic growth along the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor.
The Krishnapatnam Industrial Area (KRIS City) in Tirupati district, envisioned as a greenfield smart city under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme, will also be established. This project, with an estimated investment of ₹10,500 crore, is projected to generate over one lakh direct and indirect jobs.
On January 9, PM Modi will inaugurate the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The event, themed "Diaspora's Contribution to a Viksit Bharat," aims to connect the Indian diaspora from over 50 countries and celebrate their role in India's development. A special Pravasi Bharatiya Express tourist train will be flagged off remotely, offering the diaspora a three-week journey through India’s cultural and religious landmarks under the 'Pravasi Teertha Darshan Yojana.'
