Ludhina: Today, i.e., on 1st February, there will be a lot of enthusiasm in Punjab because Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting. He is going to do two big things in the state – one is to change the name of Adampur Airport after Sant Guru Ravidas Ji, and second is to inaugurate the new civil terminal of Halwara Airport in Ludhiana.

Why is Adampur Airport named after Saint Ravidas Ji?

This decision has been taken on the occasion of the 649th birth anniversary of Saint Guru Ravidas Ji. Sant Ji is an example of equality, brotherhood and humanity in the society. Having his name on the airport is a great way to honor him, and it means a lot especially to the Ravidassia community. Now this airport will be called 'Shri Guru Ravidas Ji Airport, Adampur'.

What will change after the opening of Halwara Airport?

This is a big relief for Ludhiana and surrounding areas. Earlier people had to go to Chandigarh or Delhi to take a flight, now direct flights will start from here. Businessmen, students, employed people – everyone will find it easy. Local industries will also get better connectivity, time and expense will be saved in transportation of goods.

How will PM's program be?

He will reach Adampur airport at around 3:45 pm, where he will unveil the name change plaque. There will also be a virtual inauguration of Halwara Terminal. Then he will go to Dera Sachkhand Ballan, meet Sant Niranjan Das ji there, address the Sangat and participate in the program on the occasion of birth anniversary.

Why is security so strict?

Before the arrival of PM, there is heavy deployment of police and security forces in the entire area. Helipads have been made, every movement is being monitored. There are so many preparations so that everything goes smoothly and there is no problem. (There were threatening rumors at some places yesterday, but the administration is alert.)

Is there a political angle in this?

Dera Sachkhand Ballan and the Ravidasia community have a good influence in Punjab, especially in the Dalit vote bank. So this visit is being considered important not only religiously and socially, but also politically—by combining both development and faith.

Overall, this visit is not just a formality. People are getting better facilities, and the connectivity of the area is getting stronger. This is a matter of special happiness for the people living in Ludhiana! A lot of excitement would be visible all around today.
