Bihar: In the early hours of Monday, the Bihar Police allegedly took Prashant Kishor and his supporters from the protest site at Gandhi Maidan, stating the sit-in was illegal. According to Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh, "Kishor and his supporters were arrested and will now be produced before a court." After his arrest, Kishor was taken for a medical examination to AIIMS in Patna.

Kishor and his 150 followers had been sued in an FIR by the district administration for an FIR against violation of law where the protest has taken place adjacent to a prohibited zone.

BPSC controversy and Kishor's demands

Kishor went on hunger strike last Thursday as he tried to press the Bihar government into revoking the decision taken on BPSC conducting an integrated 70th Combined Competitive Examination that had taken place on December 13. Several accusations have also followed this exam claiming the leakage of question papers but BPSC termed these charges to be wrong; still, a re-exam was ordered by the government for those affected due to the flaw in this examination.

"By carrying out the re-examination, the government has legally accepted that irregularities have taken place," Kishor told ANI on Sunday.

Appeal to political leaders

Kishor requested Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav to associate with the campaign. "These leaders are way bigger than us. They can mobilize five lakh people at Gandhi Maidan. The youth's future is at stake," he added.

The leader of the Jan Suraaj also called for an immediate response to the demands of the students, asking Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to interact with the protesting students directly.
The controversy is over the 70th CCE that was held on December 13, in which there were allegations of question paper leaks. As a result, 12,000 candidates were re-examined, but only 5,943 turned up. Students in Patna are demanding that the entire exam be cancelled and the government is not able to tackle the issue appropriately.

Call for justice

Kishor condemned the way the state has handled student protests, citing frequent instances of police action. "This regime has ordered lathi charges 87 times in just three years," he said, urging swift resolution for the sake of Bihar's youth.
