Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today invited industrialists to become partners in the country’s social and economic growth. He said Punjab has now emerged as one of the most preferred destinations for investors worldwide because of its industry-friendly policies and supportive business environment. The Chief Minister said that industrialists are the backbone of the economy as they provide jobs to thousands of families. He shared that many leading companies have already invested in Punjab, as the state offers great opportunities that help businesses grow. Mann said that although Punjab has only 1.5 percent of India’s total land, it contributes nearly 3 percent to the national GDP.
The Chief Minister said that Punjabis are known across the world for their courage and hard work. He described Punjab as the land of gurus, saints, and prophets, where the fertile soil can grow anything. Mann added that although difficult times had once affected industries in Punjab, they recovered and developed again with strength. He said Punjab is also an ideal place for video and film shooting, and the state government is planning to set up a Film City here. Punjab is full of natural beauty and scenic locations, which make it a great choice for the film industry.
The Chief Minister noted that in India, and especially in Punjab, the entertainment sector has lacked proper infrastructure, which has caused it to struggle. The state government is now giving special attention to this area. He mentioned that another cricket stadium is being built in Amritsar, which will give a strong boost to the sports industry. He assured that Punjab has sufficient electricity for industries. The state has five power plants, all run by the government, and also holds large reserves of coal. Being India’s food bowl, Punjab has huge potential for the food processing industry. Mann said the single-window system has been fully implemented, making Punjab a fast-growing hub for investment.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Punjab has seen remarkable industrial progress in the last three years. The state has now become a major hub for food processing, textiles, auto components, bicycles, IT, tourism, and many other sectors. Since March 2022, Punjab has received investment proposals worth ₹1.23 lakh crore, which are expected to create more than 4.7 lakh jobs. Mann proudly stated that Punjab is home to many global companies like Nestlé, Claas, Freudenberg, Cargill, Danone, and others, which are contributing to the state’s economic growth. These companies have shown trust in Punjab’s potential and the supportive environment provided by the government. Investments from countries like Japan, the USA, Germany, the UK, France, Spain, and others also highlight Punjab’s growing global reach.
The Chief Minister said that Punjab has brought several key reforms to make doing business easier. The state has launched the Fast Track Punjab portal, the most advanced single-window system in India, which ensures faster approvals and eliminates unnecessary offline applications. He stressed that partnership between the government and industries is the real key to success. This approach guided the 2022 Industrial Policy, which was prepared with the suggestions of industry experts. The government has also formed 24 sectoral committees, led by industry leaders, to design policies as per the needs of each sector. Mann assured that the government is fully committed to building a relationship with businesses based on equality, transparency, and cooperation. He invited industrialists to join the sixth edition of the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit, scheduled to be held in Mohali from March 13 to 15, 2026. The event will bring together industrialists, policymakers, and researchers to discuss ways to take Punjab’s industries to greater heights. The Chief Minister said the summit will be the ideal platform to showcase Punjab’s potential, explore opportunities for collaboration, and strengthen networks. He added that together we can build a sustainable, inclusive, and globally competitive industrial environment in Punjab, for which the trust and participation of investors is very important.
