Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal
Punjab News: Sant Seechewal and his team worked three days and nights nonstop to build a massive boat. This boat can carry large animals, farming machines, and villagers to safer places. By saving machinery worth lakhs, farmers avoided bigger losses during this disaster.Every day from morning till evening, Seechewal spends about ten hours in the floodwaters. His boat carries food, water, and medicines to stranded families. While most leaders only visited briefly, he has stayed with villagers for three continuous weeks.
Seechewal personally carried children in his arms, helped families save animals, and ferried dozens of people to safety daily. By the end of August, nearly 300 animals were rescued. His presence gave villagers courage that they were not left alone.
On August 22, Seechewal cancelled his planned trip to England. He declared he could not leave his people in pain. His decision became a symbol of sacrifice and responsibility, making him a rare leader who chose service over personal commitments.
After witnessing his dedication, other leaders visited Mand. Harbhajan Singh came on August 18, the Water Resources Minister on August 20, and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on August 22. Yet villagers noted that only Seechewal stayed throughout, never leaving their side.
Farmers whose fields went underwater found strength in his presence. “We thought all was lost,” said farmer Nirmal Singh. “But when Babaji came every morning, we knew we were not alone.” His work has become hope in Punjab’s darkest hour.
