National News: In the green hills of Meghalaya, a honeymoon turned into horror. Instead of romance, death awaited. The murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, a young businessman from Indore, has shaken the entire country. His wife Sonam, now the main accused in this dreadful conspiracy, allegedly planned the murder along with her lover Raj Kushwaha and three hired killers.

12 Days of Marriage, Then a Murder Plot

Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam had been married for just 12 days when they arrived in Meghalaya for their honeymoon. On May 23, Raja’s body was found in a deep gorge, exposing a horrifying conspiracy. Police investigations revealed that Sonam had conspired with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and three contract killers – Akash Rajput (19), Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), and Anand Kurmi – to murder her husband.

Cold-Blooded Betrayal Behind Scenic Beauty

On May 20, the newlywed couple checked into a homestay in Nongriat village. Sonam’s three accomplices also stayed nearby but posed as unrelated tourists. That morning, Sonam and Raja set out on a trek to the Wei Sawdong waterfall. Raja had no idea that this journey would be his last.

The Death Signal Came Without Emotion

Around 10 a.m., the group reached a secluded area where a local guide saw them together — a crucial detail that later helped solve the case. According to police, around 1:30 p.m., Sonam gave the signal. The three men attacked Raja, threw his body into the gorge, and fled the scene. After the murder, Sonam picked up Raja’s phone and posted a photo on social media with the caption “Together.”

Social Media Used as a Tool for Alibi

Those who saw the post believed it was a loving tribute, unaware that Raja was already dead. Sonam called Raja’s mother, claiming she was too exhausted from the trek to return, hoping to avoid suspicion. She used the post to create an alibi, but the truth soon came to light.

Missing Persons to Shocking Discovery

Just hours after the attack, both Raja and Sonam were reported missing. On June 2, Raja’s decomposed body was recovered. Sonam fled to Uttar Pradesh after the incident and surrendered in Ghazipur on the night of June 8. During interrogation, she confessed to paying ₹20 lakh to get her husband killed.

Lover Raj Kushwaha’s Arrest Reveals Mastermind Role

Sonam’s alleged lover Raj Kushwaha has also been arrested. Police believe that Sonam and Raj shared an emotional—and possibly physical—relationship. The murder was a joint conspiracy, with Raj believed to be the mastermind behind the brutal crime.

Marriage, Lies, and Murder

A marriage that began with joy quickly turned into a story of greed, deceit, and calculated murder. This was not merely a crime of passion, but a well-orchestrated assassination masked by love. As the investigation deepens, the case grows even more chilling—shaking the nation’s conscience.
