Patna: Ahead of Bihar Assembly elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) took strict disciplinary action on Monday and expelled 27 of its office bearers from the party for six years. These include the names of two sitting MLAs, several former MLAs and the state head of the women's cell, Ritu Jaiswal. The party says that these leaders worked against the organization before the elections and violated the party line. “On the basis of confirmed facts, all of them are expelled from the primary membership of the party for six years due to their involvement in anti-party activities,” RJD president Mangalni Lal Mandal said in a letter issued on Monday evening.

On behalf of RJD, action has been taken against sitting MLA from the Parsa seat Chhote Lal Rai and former MLA from Govindpur Mohammad Kamran. Recently Chhote Lal Rai joined J.D.U. Former MLAs include names like Ram Prakash Mahato, Anil Sahni, Saroj Yadav, Ganesh Bharti and Anil Yadav. Ritu Jaiswal has decided to contest against the official RJD candidate from the Parihar seat.

Here, opposition chief ministerial contender Tejashwi Yadav appealed to the migrant Biharis through Facebook Live on Monday evening that those returning home for Chhath Puja should return only after casting their votes. He promised, “I assure you that till the next Chhath, no one will have to go out of Bihar for a job, study or treatment.”

Tejashwi Yadav also targeted the Railway Minister and Central Government. He said, "The Railway Minister had claimed to run 12,000 special trains, but Biharis had to face a lot of trouble in returning home. The trains are jam-packed; people are traveling in toilets. Prime Minister Modi and his government should apologize to Bihar for this insult."

When will the joint manifesto be released?

He said that the joint manifesto of the Mahagathbandhan will be released on Wednesday, while on Thursday he will address joint rallies with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
