New Delhi: On Thursday, popular Tamil actor Vijay officially launched the flag and symbol of his newly formed political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in Chennai. Committed to the principle of social justice, Vijay declared that his party would strive for a transparent and corruption-free government in Tamil Nadu.The party flag features a red and maroon design on the top and bottom, with a yellow band in the middle, symbolizing unity and strength. The flag is adorned with two elephants and a Vaagai flower, a traditional emblem of victory in Tamil culture. This event is anticipated to provide further insights into TVKs broader political vision and strategies.The actor-turned-politician had earlier announced the formation of TVK on February 2, highlighting his goal of creating a fundamental political change in Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that TVK aims to deliver a caste-free and corruption-free administration while championing social justice. Vijay affirmed that the partys primary objective is to contest and win the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, fulfilling the people&#39s desire for political transformation.The launch of TVK follows a decision by Vijays fan club, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, in January, where members unanimously supported the move. Despite launching the party, TVK chose not to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections or back any party during the Vikravandi Assembly bypoll, where the DMK emerged victorious in July.
