Delhi-NCR Sees Heavy Rain And Strong Winds; Alert Issued For 25 States Including UP And Bihar

New Delhi: Monsoon has once again gained momentum in the country. Since Sunday morning, the weather pattern has changed in entire North India including Delhi-NCR. At some places strong winds are blowing and in other places heavy rains have given relief to the people from the sultry heat. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding rain and storms in 25 states of the country including Delhi, UP, Bihar.

How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR today?

There have been dense clouds in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad since morning. It rained with strong winds in many areas. There will be a drop in temperature due to rain, which will provide some relief to the people who have been facing heat and humidity for the last several days. The Meteorological Department has issued orange and yellow alerts in many areas of Delhi-NCR and North-Central India. People have been asked to take caution in bad weather. Don't leave the house without need.

In which 25 states is there a rain alert?

According to the Meteorological Department, today there may be heavy rain in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir. There is also a warning of heavy rain in many states of Central India and Eastern India. Monsoon may become more active in the next 24 hours.

Why increased concern in UP and Bihar? 

There is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder in many districts of UP and Bihar. Continuous rain can cause waterlogging in low-lying areas. Flood-like situations may also occur at some places. 

Why is rain becoming a problem in hilly states?

Problems may increase due to continuous rain in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. There is a danger of landslides and ground subsidence in many hilly areas. Due to heavy rains, debris and stones may fall on the roads, due to which the National Highway and link roads may be closed. The Disaster Management Department has asked the people living on the banks of rivers and streams to remain alert. Tourists have also been asked not to visit hilly areas in bad weather. The weather is being continuously monitored in many states in the next few hours.
