National news: Just days after reportedly exposing corruption by a local contractor, YouTuber and journalist Mukesh Chandrakar was found murdered in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. His decomposed body was found in the septic tank of contractor Suresh Chandrakar's property. Mukesh had gone missing on January 1, and his brother had filed a missing person's report with the police.

Investigation leads to grim uncovering

Police investigations tracked Mukesh's last mobile location to the contractor's premises. A search of the property revealed a suspiciously newly cast septic tank cover. Breaking it open, authorities found Mukesh's body, which was identified by his family through his clothing. While the contractor is currently the prime suspect, the police stated that his exact role in the crime is yet to be confirmed. The body has been sent for postmortem examination.

Mukesh's impactful reporting

Mukesh Chandrakar was a fearless journalist, and people had immense respect for him. He became famous for exposing the health scenario in Bijapur and filing stories from the Naxal-affected violence-torn areas. Just before his disappearance, Mukesh had filed a story on the road construction scam between Gangloor and Nelsonar.

Chief Minister orders investigation

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai was deeply saddened by Mukesh's tragic death and assured the family of a detailed investigation. "This is a heartbreaking loss to journalism and society. The culprits will not be spared," the Chief Minister said, condoling with the bereaved family.

Investigation and suspects still on the roll

The authorities have already intensified their search, and so far, they have interrogated more than six suspects. They have arrested one person for interrogation and sent another team to Delhi to pursue newly emerging leads. IG Sundarraj P assured that immediate steps were taken in the wake of Mukesh's disappearance, and several clues are already discovered.
