PoK Crisis Escalates: Protesters Allege 50 Killed During Crackdown, Islamabad Sees Massive Rally (Image Courtesy: ANI)
Quetta: New claims have emerged regarding the ongoing protests and violence in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) for the last few days. Jammu and Kashmir Joint People's Action Committee (JAAC) member Sardar Omar Nazir Kashmiri has alleged that more than 50 people have died in the action of security forces, while a large number of people have been injured. However, these claims have not been independently verified.
Omar Nazir Kashmiri says that during the last three to four days, people who were protesting peacefully were fired upon. According to him, many people lost their lives and hundreds were injured in this action. He described these incidents as "state-sponsored violence".
On 31 July, a large demonstration was organised at G-10 Markaz in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. Many Pakistani and Kashmiri citizens, including former senator Mushtaq Khan participated in it. The protesters raised their voices in support of the ongoing movement in PoK and showed solidarity.
Umar Nazir said that he is present at the protest site located at D-Chowk in Rawalakot and the agitation is continuing. He claimed that several people have died and many others have been injured in recent days. He also alleged that such incidents have happened in other areas including Muzaffarabad.

Omar Nazir Kashmiri thanked the people who organised the demonstration in Islamabad, former senator Mushtaq Khan and everyone who supported the movement. He said that the participation of a large number of people has given new strength to the movement.
The protesting leaders say that their movement will continue and they will continue to raise their voice for their demands. At the same time, different claims are coming out at the official level regarding this entire incident and the situation is being monitored.
