Asia Cup
Sports News: India and Pakistan were face to face in the Asia Cup match played in Dubai on 14 September. After the match was over, the Indian players did not shake hands with the Pakistani players. Pakistan got angry at this and went straight to the ICC. The Pakistan Cricket Board has filed a complaint against match referee Andy Pycroft. The PCB says that the referee did not perform his duty properly. It has demanded from the ICC that Pycroft be removed from the Asia Cup immediately.
PCB has said in its complaint that the referee violated the ICC Code of Conduct. Also, he failed to protect the rules of the Spirit of Cricket made by MCC. On this basis, Pakistan has demanded action against him.
Now the question is what stand the ICC will take in this matter. This complaint has reached the apex body of cricket. All eyes are on whether the ICC accepts Pakistan's demand or not.
Some former Pakistani cricketers have also come out openly on this issue. Rashid Latif wrote on social media that why is the ICC silent on this act of Indian players. Basit Ali even said that the ICC is inclined towards India.
Amidst this entire controversy, the result of the match was also disappointing for Pakistan. The Indian team defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets. Pakistan had given a target of 128 runs, which India easily achieved by losing 3 wickets.
India-Pakistan cricket matches are always in the news, but this time the incident of not shaking hands has increased the bitterness. Pakistan feels that injustice has been done to it. Now it remains to be seen whether the ICC's decision calms down this controversy or inflames it further.
