Dhaka: Bangladesh Cricket Board is angry with the decision to drop Bangladeshi bowler Mustafizur Rahman from IPL. After this resentment, the Board had asked ICC to change the venue of its matches to be held in India in the T20 World Cup 2026.
The board said that it was concerned about security, hence its group matches to be held in India should be held in Sri Lanka. A letter was also sent to ICC regarding this demand.
According to information, ICC has refused to accept this demand. During the meeting held in Mumbai, ICC President Jay Shah and other officials clearly told the Bangladesh Cricket Board that the venues of the matches will not be changed.
ICC has said that Bangladesh will have to play all its scheduled matches in India only. If the team does not come to India and play the matches, it will have to lose points from those matches.
Bangladesh's matches against West Indies on 7 February, Italy on 9 February and England on 14 February are to be held in Kolkata. After this, the match against Nepal is to be played in Mumbai on 17th February. At present no changes have been made in these matches.
According to sources, ICC also reminded about the 1996 World Cup. At that time Australia had refused to play in Sri Lanka due to security reasons and had to lose points from its matches.
Till now, no statement has come from Bangladesh Cricket Board on this decision. But after the decision of the ICC, it is considered certain that Bangladesh will have to play all its World Cup matches in India only. After ICC's stance, it is believed that there will be no change in the scheduled schedule of the World Cup. Now Bangladesh will have to decide whether to come and play in India or risk losing points.
