Tiger Roby, a well-known super fan of the Bangladesh cricket team, was allegedly assaulted by a group of Indian supporters during Day 1 of the second Test. Police intervened, escorting Roby to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The precise cause of the altercation remains unclear.

According to reports, the altercation took place in Stand C, where Roby, dressed in his signature tiger costume, was seated among the fans. The incident quickly escalated, and Roby was seen in visible distress. Local authorities stepped in, with police officers and medical personnel providing immediate assistance. A video shared on social media by news agency PTI showed Roby being escorted out of the stadium, confirming the severity of the situation. PTI stated, "Bangladesh cricket team's 'super fan' Tiger Roby was allegedly beaten up by some people during the India-Bangladesh second Test match being played at Kanpur's Green Park stadium. He was taken to hospital by the police. More details are awaited."

Super fan in distress

An official from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association shared that while Roby couldn’t fully explain the sequence of events, his discomfort was apparent. He claimed to have been punched in the abdomen during the altercation, which left him in significant pain. "As he came out of the stands, he was wincing in pain and seemed to be fainting. He was given a chair to sit but he fell," the official added.

Police investigation underway

A police officer present at the scene shared that Roby was immediately given first aid while waiting for the ambulance. Since the ambulance was delayed, the in-stadium medical team transported him to a nearby hospital for further care. The officer remarked, "We do not know if he was hit by somebody. We have a constable in that stand to keep an eye on the fans. We could not understand what he was saying. Probably he had pain." Further details on the incident and Roby's condition are awaited.
