Suryakumar Yadav Becomes India’s Pride (X)
Suryakumar Yadav donated the prize money to Indian Army: Following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the Indian team responded strongly on the field. "Operation Tilak" delivered a crushing defeat to Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final played at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
The 11 players from India showed a great game and raised the heads of Indians all over the world with pride. India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets, won the title and beat Pakistan for the third time in the tournament. With this victory, India made a record ninth time to win the Asia Cup - 7 times in ODIs and 2 times in T20 format.
Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav announced after the final that he would donate his entire match fee from the tournament to the families of the victims of the Pahalgam attack and the Indian Armed Forces.
After the match in Dubai on September 28, 2025, Yadav wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
"I have decided to donate my entire match fee for this tournament to our armed forces and the families of the victims of the Pahalgam attack. You are always in my thoughts. Jai Hind."
Indian players receive ₹4 lakh per match in the T20 format. After playing seven matches, Suryakumar Yadav will donate a total of ₹2.8 million to the Indian Army.
After winning the final, the Indian team completely refused to take the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, president of the Pakistan Cricket Board and Asian Cricket Council, halting the award ceremony for about an hour.
Naqvi and Emirates Cricket Board officials stood on the stage, but the Indian team refused to take the trophy. The trophy was eventually taken out of the field, and the Indian team celebrated their victory without a trophy. This happened for the first time in the history of the Asia Cup.
