S. Jaishankar on terrorism:Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar indirectly targeted Pakistan on the issue of terrorism at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Without naming any country, he said that India has faced the challenge of terrorism since independence, and that many of its major international attacks have their roots in a neighboring country.

The Pakistani representative immediately responded and tried to vindicate its image by making false accusations against India. This was followed by a response from India. Second Secretary of the Indian Permanent Mission, Rentala Srinivas, said that despite not naming any country, Pakistan had acknowledged its policy of promoting terrorism by responding.

Jaishankar's Remarks at the General Assembly

Jaishankar emphasized India's three core policies—self-reliance, self-defense, and self-confidence—in his speech. He said that self-reliance means honing one's capabilities and talents. Self-defense means zero tolerance for terrorism and helping one's community abroad. Self-confidence means that India has confidence in its identity and direction.

He also pointed to Pakistan on the issue of terrorism. Referring to the killing of innocent tourists in Pahalgam in April, he said that India ensured the safety of its citizens and brought terrorists to justice.

India's Response and Pakistan's Reaction

After Jaishankar's comments, Pakistan tried to save the image of Islamabad by making false allegations. In response, India's permanent representative said that Pakistan's infamy has become clear from its actions. He said that Pakistan's hand is clearly visible in cases of terrorism, and it is a serious threat not only for its neighbors but for the whole world.

India ready for big responsibilities

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar emphasized the need for reforms in the Security Council and said that the number of both permanent and temporary members should be increased. He also clarified that India is ready to take up big responsibilities globally and is ready to contribute positively to the international system.

Global Workforce and New Trade Arrangements

The Foreign Minister said that the world will need a large-scale global workforce and new trade arrangements will emerge. He emphasized India's growing engagement with Latin American and Caribbean countries and said that trade will continue to thrive despite uncertainties.
