Bulawayo: The Indian team has won three consecutive matches in the ICC Men's Under-19 World Cup 2026 and has advanced to the Super Six stage. In their final group stage match, India defeated New Zealand by 7 wickets under the DLS method to secure the top position in Group B.  Under the captaincy of Ayush Mhatre, the Indian team won all three matches, accumulating 6 points and progressing to the next round.

Who will the Indian colts face in the Super Six stage?

Due to finishing at the top of Group B, India has been placed in Super Six Group 2. According to the tournament format, India will play two matches in this stage. India's first Super Six match is scheduled against hosts Zimbabwe on January 27th at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. Then, a highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan will be played on February 1st. This match will also be held in Bulawayo, starting at 1 PM Indian Standard Time.

It is worth noting that in the Under-19 Asia Cup final played in December, Pakistan defeated India by 191 runs. Therefore, this match will also be an opportunity for India to avenge that defeat. England, New Zealand, and Bangladesh are also in India's group, but India will not face them in this stage.

How many teams are in the Super Six stage?

A total of 12 teams have reached the Super Six stage, divided into two groups. The points earned against teams that also qualify for the Super Six stage are carried forward to the next round. India and England have entered the Super Six with 4 points each. Pakistan, Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Zimbabwe will start with fewer points. This is why every match has become crucial for the semi-final race.

The Indian team performed brilliantly in the group stage. They bowled out the United States (USA) for 107 runs and chased the target in less than 20 overs. Against Bangladesh, they successfully defended a target of 238 runs, securing a remarkable victory. Then, in a rain-affected match, they restricted the Kiwi team to 135 runs and achieved the target in just 13.3 overs. Meanwhile, Pakistan did not have a good start. They lost their first match to England by 36 runs. However, they bounced back by defeating Scotland and Zimbabwe. Pakistan finished second in Group C and qualified for the Super Six stage. Pakistan's first Super Six match will be against New Zealand in Harare on January 27.

When will the knockout matches be played?

The India-Pakistan match on February 1 could directly determine a place in the semi-finals, as only the top two teams from each Super Six group will advance to the final four. The first semi-final is scheduled for February 3 in Bulawayo, while the second semi-final will be played in Harare on February 4. The final match will also be held in Harare on February 6.

It is worth noting that another India-Pakistan match is scheduled during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in February. This match will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on February 15.
