In the 52nd match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season against the Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan suffered a crushing 77-run defeat. This marks the team's fifth loss in their last seven matches. Batting first at the Sawai Mansingh Cricket Stadium, GT posted a formidable total of 229 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Rajasthan's innings folded for 152 runs in the 17th over.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Gujarat Titans got off to a spectacular start. Captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan forged a brilliant 118-run partnership for the first wicket off just 65 deliveries. Sudharsan was dismissed after scoring 55 runs off 36 balls, an innings that included 6 fours and 2 sixes. Jos Buttler failed to make a significant impact with the bat, falling victim to Ravindra Jadeja after scoring a mere 13 runs. Shubman Gill displayed exceptional batting prowess, smashing 84 runs off 44 balls at a blistering strike rate of 190. Gill's innings was studded with 9 fours and 3 sixes. Jason Holder could only manage to score 7 runs.
In the final overs, Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia batted aggressively, stitching together a 24-run partnership off just 11 balls. Sundar played an unbeaten knock of 37 runs off merely 20 deliveries, hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes in the process. Meanwhile, Tewatia contributed an unbeaten 14 runs off just 4 balls, aided by 2 sixes. Brijesh Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, claiming the highest tally of 2 wickets.
Chasing a target of 230 runs, the Rajasthan Royals were given an explosive start by Vaibhav Suryavanshi. However, after scoring 36 runs off 16 balls, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was eventually dismissed; he returned to the pavilion after being caught by Arshad Khan off the bowling of Mohammed Siraj. In this match, Yashasvi Jaiswal, leading the team, was dismissed after scoring just 3 runs.
