The start of Day 4 of the third Test at Lord’s Cricket Ground proved to be explosive for India. Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj dismissed English batter Ben Duckett for just 12 runs in the very first over, reigniting the charged atmosphere on the field. This breakthrough gave the Indian team a brilliant opportunity to gain control in the match.

Siraj Warned by Umpire for Overenthusiastic Celebration

Siraj bowled a back-of-length delivery at a speed of 140 km/h, which Duckett failed to play properly as he attempted a grounded shot. The ball took an inside edge and went straight into the hands of Jasprit Bumrah. As soon as the catch was taken, Siraj ran toward Bumrah in celebration but also screamed very close to Duckett. This reaction escalated the on-field tension, prompting the square-leg umpire to step in and issue a warning to Siraj for his aggressive behavior.

Previous Tensions Deepen Further

Tensions between the Indian and English teams had already surfaced by the end of Day 3. English player Zak Crawley delayed taking the new ball, which drew sarcastic applause and protest from Indian fielders. Jasprit Bumrah was repeatedly stopped from bowling early overs to BSL (Ben Stokes-led team), which eventually led to a wicket. These actions created a confrontational environment among the captains, players, and fielders.

Gill and Crawley Engage in War of Words

Shubman Gill didn’t hold back his emotions on the field either. When Crawley called for the physio and appeared to waste time, Gill allegedly used abusive language. Duckett tried to intervene to calm things down, but by then a heated verbal exchange had broken out on the field, and the players' anger was clearly visible.

First Wicket Crucial for India

With Siraj taking the early wicket, India managed to maintain their dominance as England's score was reduced to 22/1. This dismissal proved to be a crucial turning point, especially since India had balanced their first innings at a solid 387 runs. This early breakthrough gave India a renewed chance to dictate the second innings.

Day 4 Begins with High Tension

The morning of Day 4 did not begin peacefully. The incidents from Day 3 had already heightened the intensity and confrontation between the two sides. In such a scenario, Siraj’s wicket and his fiery celebration reignited the charged atmosphere on the field, bringing a renewed wave of tension and aggression into the match.
