New Delhi: India defeated an impressive Netherlands by 17 runs in a Group A match of the T20 World Cup 2026 in Ahmedabad on Wednesday (February 18). In this match played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Team India's star all-rounder Hardik Pandya created history. Hardik played an innings of 30 runs during the match and achieved a major milestone. With this innings of 30 runs, Hardik became the first Indian all-rounder to score 6000 runs and take 200 wickets in T20 cricket.
Hardik Pandya played an innings of just 30 runs against the Netherlands, hitting three sixes. He also contributed significantly with the ball, taking one wicket for 40 runs in three overs. India won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 193 runs for the loss of 66 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Chasing the mammoth target of 194 runs, the Netherlands gave the Indian bowlers a tough fight, scoring 176 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Although they lost the match by 17 runs, they displayed a strong batting display against the Indian bowlers.
Regarding Hardik Pandya's career so far, he made his T20 debut for Baroda in 2013 against Madhya Pradesh in domestic T20 cricket. He demonstrated excellent performance in domestic cricket, earning him a spotlight after being selected for the Mumbai Indians IPL team in 2015. In January 2016, he made his T20 debut for the Indian team within a year of his IPL debut. Hardik Pandya was part of the Indian team in the 2016 T20 World Cup and won some matches on his own.
Mumbai Indians retained him before the 2018 mega auction. In 2022, he became the captain of the Gujarat Giants IPL team and led them to victory in their first season. In IPL 2024, he returned to Mumbai Indians and became their captain, which led to widespread trolling. Hardik Pandya led India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa with his bowling.
It's worth noting that Hardik is now one of the best fast-bowling all-rounders in the world. He also captained India in T20Is, winning 10 out of 16 matches. By achieving this feat in 2026, Hardik has once again proven his status as a major star in Indian cricket.
