Several Roads To Be Affected By Muharram Processions In Delhi, Police Share Alternate Routes

Delhi Police Releases Traffic Plan as Muharram Processions Pass Through Key Areas Today (Instagram)

New Delhi: On the occasion of Muharram, Tazia processions will be taken out in many parts of the capital, Delhi, on Friday, June 26. In view of this, Delhi Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory. Vehicular movement will be limited on many major routes of the city, while diversion will be implemented at many places. Police have appealed to people to get information about the route before setting out on a journey and to use alternative routes.

In which areas will traffic be most affected?

Due to the Muharram procession, traffic will be affected in Central Delhi, Old Delhi, Karbala, Dakshinpuri and many areas connected to the Outer Ring Road. Vehicular movement may be affected in Jama Masjid, Ajmeri Gate, Kamla Market, Paharganj, Jhandewalan, Indralok, Shastri Nagar, Bara Hindu Rao and surrounding areas.

How long will traffic diversion remain in effect?

According to the traffic police, special traffic arrangements will be in force on many routes of Central Delhi from 12 noon to 10 pm. At the same time, traffic restrictions and diversion will remain in effect from 4 pm to 10 pm in New Delhi and some parts of the Outer Circle.

Which major roads will be affected?

Traffic will be affected in many parts of Pankha Road, Dabri-Palam Road, GTK Road, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road (MB Road), Sansad Marg, Rafi Marg, Sunehari Bagh Road, Tughlaq Road Corridor and Outer Circle. A temporary ban has also been imposed on the entry of commercial vehicles at some places.

What advice has Delhi Police given to the passengers?

The traffic police have advised people to avoid procession routes, use the metro more and leave extra time for travel. Also, drivers have been asked to follow the instructions of the traffic police and use the prescribed diversions.

What will be the arrangements for no-parking and towing?

No vehicle will be allowed to park on and around the restricted routes. Vehicles violating the rules will be immediately towed and removed so that the procession and traffic system can be operated smoothly.
