New Delhi: In the beginning of May itself, the weather gave great relief to the people of Delhi-NCR. While people were suffering from humidity and heat till afternoon, suddenly a strong storm completely changed the weather and heavy rains started in many areas. People who were confined to their homes and relying on fans and ACs also opened their windows and started enjoying this pleasant weather.
Large hailstorms were reported in areas like Seelampur and Yamuna Vihar in East Delhi. There was hailstorm along with rain in Ghaziabad also. At around 3 o'clock in the afternoon, suddenly dark clouds appeared in the sky and within no time the weather changed completely. People walking on the road definitely faced some trouble, but most of the people had a smile of relief on their faces.
According to meteorologists, this change was caused by an active western disturbance, whose effect was visible on the entire North India. Due to this one day rain, the temperature dropped by 8 to 15 degrees Celsius. That is, the heat which was troubling people for many days, reduced significantly in one stroke.
IMD had issued an orange alert for Delhi-NCR and warned that strong winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour may occur in many areas including Dilshad Garden, Shahdara, Kashmiri Gate, ITO and India Gate. People were advised to avoid going out in the open.
There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers between May 3 and May 5, but this relief will also be temporary and after that the humidity and heat will start again. Strong winds can cause damage to weak structures and exposed materials, so stay indoors during inclement weather and avoid standing under trees. Enjoy this pleasant weather for now, but don't be completely worried about the heat.
As much as this change of weather is comforting, it is also equally unreliable. The cold wind, which is giving relief today, can become a strong storm tomorrow and cause problems. Therefore, before leaving the house, check the weather conditions and do not forget to carry an umbrella.
