Security ‘Red Alert’ in the Capital! 11 Metro Gates Closed; Strict Measures on Roads (X)
New Delhi: The administration has taken strict measures regarding security and public order in the New Delhi district of the capital. With the imposition of prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), activities such as gatherings, processions, and demonstrations have been banned in several key areas. Meanwhile, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the closure of entry and exit points at 11 major metro stations until further notice.
According to the DMRC, entry and exit points at Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Seva Tirth, Mandi House, Lok Kalyan Marg, INA, Chawri Bazar, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, and New Delhi metro stations will remain closed for the time being.
However, there is some relief for commuters: the facility to interchange between metro lines will remain available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, INA, New Delhi, and Central Secretariat stations. This means passengers can switch lines at these stations, but exiting the station or entering from outside will not be permitted.
A key security advisory states that public meetings or gatherings of five or more people cannot be held without prior written permission. Additionally, processions, demonstrations, sit-ins (dharnas), picketing, slogan-shouting, and public speeches are prohibited. Furthermore, carrying firearms, banners, posters, lathis, swords, sticks, bricks, stones, or similar objects without permission is also banned.
The administration has appealed to citizens, visitors, and all concerned individuals to strictly adhere to the prohibitory orders. The order clarifies that any form of unauthorized gathering or restricted activity must be avoided. Violations of the order may attract action under Section 223 of the BNS and other applicable legal provisions.
Currently, security vigilance has been heightened across key Delhi Metro routes and the New Delhi district. Regarding the stations closed by the DMRC, it has been stated that entry and exit points will remain shut until further orders.
