New Delhi: The process for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Delhi is set to commence on June 30. Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Ashok Kumar, announced on Wednesday that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits to verify voters. This entire process will be conducted in a transparent and systematic manner to ensure that the electoral rolls become more accurate and up-to-date.

When Will BLOs Receive Training?

The Chief Electoral Officer stated that a phase of internal preparations will take place from June 20 to June 29. During this period, the training of BLOs, the printing of enumeration forms, and other technical arrangements will be completed. According to officials, a system of checks will be in place at every stage of the verification process, and political parties will also be involved through their Booth Level Agents (BLAs). Information regarding the entire process will be shared on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer's office.

How many BLOs will participate in the SIR process?

According to the CEO's office, during the SIR campaign, more than 13,000 BLOs will visit homes across various parts of the capital to carry out enumeration and verification tasks. Each existing voter will be provided with two copies of the enumeration form. The voter must fill out one of these copies and return it to the BLO. Additionally, facilities will be made available for citizens to submit their enumeration forms online.

Officials informed that special awareness campaigns will be conducted for the convenience of voters. Camps will be set up in various localities to assist people in filling out and submitting their enumeration forms. The Election Commission's objective is to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of this process and that all citizens can easily update their information.

What are the prime features of this SIR exercise?

This special revision campaign will include all citizens who will attain the age of 18 years or older by October 1. Election officials state that this process will prove to be a significant step toward enrolling young voters and making the electoral rolls more reliable.
The door-to-door verification process by BLOs will commence on June 30 and continue until July 29. Subsequently, the draft voter list will be published on August 5. Following the disposal of claims and objections, the final voter list will be released on October 7. The Election Commission states that the entire process is being made fair, transparent, and technologically robust to ensure that the voter list remains fully updated and reliable.
