Jharkhand Shootout: Banned PLFI Operative Shravan Das Shot In Leg After Snatching Cop's Pistol

Jharkhand: A gunfight broke out between the police and the banned insurgent group PLFI (People's Liberation Front of India) in the forested area along the border of Karra and Jariagarh police station jurisdictions in Khunti, Jharkhand. Police had a shootout with a PLFI commander in Khunti district. His name is Shravan Das and shot in the leg. Police rushed him to the hospital for treatment. This happened in the forests between Karra and Zariyagarh police station areas.

Who is Das?

Das has been working for PLFI for a long time. Police said that he's been doing all kinds of criminal work like firing at people, extorting money from contractors, setting vehicles and machinery on fire and regular crime stuff.

Were the weapons hidden?

When police arrested him recently, Das told them something useful that he'd hidden weapons in the forests near Zariyagarh. Police set up a team and took him to show the location. But here's where it went wrong. He grabbed a gun and ran. While police were taking Das to the spot, he suddenly snatched a constable's pistol, just grabbed it and bolted toward the forest.

He shot at police?

Following the incident, he started shooting at the police team. Police also shot back to him. In the gunfire, Das got hit in the leg. Officers took him down and got him to the hospital.

How many weapons had found?

After Das was arrested, police went to the location he'd mentioned. They found three weapons hidden there. Officers said that Das was planning something big in the area. It may be a major incident that's why he had weapons stashed.

What about the investigation?

Senior police officials arrived at the scene after getting the report and started investigating the whole thing. TSP Rishabh Garg and other senior officers were there.
Security in the area has been increased. Police are now searching for other PLFI members connected to Das.
