Ghaziabad: In a strong show of public unity and concern, the residents of Sunrise Greens Society, Indirapuram held a large peaceful march and protest today against the growing menace of unauthorized and unsafe cloud kitchens operating in and around residential zones.
The rally witnessed participation from over 200 residents, including families, senior citizens, and youth, all expressing deep alarm over the increasing risks posed by commercial cooking activities being run without proper safety clearances.
Residents highlighted that these illegal kitchens, often stocked with multiple LPG cylinders, have become a major fire hazard. Alarmingly, four fire-related incidents have been reported in the last few months in the vicinity, endangering lives and property.
The procession also visited locations where several shops were recently gutted in fire accidents, reminding authorities that these are not hypothetical fears but real and recurring tragedies.
Despite repeated complaints and written representations to concerned departments, residents alleged that the administration has continued to turn a blind eye to this serious public safety threat.
The protesting residents expressed strong dissatisfaction and demanded:
- Immediate closure of unauthorized cloud kitchens
- Strict enforcement of fire safety norms
- No commercial cooking operations in basements or residential premises
- Clear regulatory guidelines and inspections
Residents reaffirmed that their protest was peaceful and aimed solely at ensuring safety, law, and quality of life for thousands of families living in high-rise societies.
“Public safety cannot be compromised for unchecked commercial activity,” said Sunrise Greens AOA President Amit Chaudhary
