The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the bail plea of Manish Sisodia in connection with cases related to alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy case.

According to the sources, the court in its statement said, "We have dismissed the bail plea of Manish Sisodia.” The order was delivered by a bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti.

Meanwhile, the court has directed the ED officials to complete the trial with in six to eight months in connection with the case. However, if the trial in the case proceeds at a slow pace, Sisodia can apply for bail again after three months, the top court added in the statement.

The court noted the details surrounding the transfer of a Rs 338 crore money trail, which is provisionally established, even as it denied bail.

Manish Sisodia had petitioned the Supreme Court for bail, after CBI and ED proceedings pertaining to purported anomalies in the Delhi Excise Policy case. He had appealed the Delhi High Court's decision to deny his bail request. In both cases, the Delhi High Court had refused him bail.

The Supreme Court has postponed making a decision about Manish Sisodia's bail requests in the cases involving the anomalies in the liquor policy.

Notably, in February 2023, Manish Sisodia was arrested by CBI for alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Delhi’s new excise policy.
