UP Police Ups Age Limit by 3 Years for All Categories (X: @CM_YOGI_UP)

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a major change in the ongoing UP Police Constable Recruitment 2025-26. All category candidates will now get three additional years of age relaxation in the upper age limit. This gives fresh hope to many young aspirants who were previously ineligible due to age.

Who will benefit from this?

Under the updated rule from the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB), the maximum age limit for applicants has gone up across the board.

For example, general male candidates can now apply up to 25 years of age and general female candidates up to 28 years, after factoring in the relaxation. There are also revised upper limits for reserved category candidates.

Why was this change made?

This adjustment comes after weeks of requests from job seekers and wider public debate. Many young people had missed the chance to apply because the age cutoff was too strict, especially after delays in issuing the recruitment notification.

Leaders from different political sides had even written to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath pressing for an age revision.

Taking to X, MLA Shalabh Mani Tripathi from Deoria wrote in Hindi, and thanked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Where does this fit in the recruitment process?

The UP Police is currently conducting one of its biggest hiring drives, with 32,679 constable posts on offer, including civil police and related roles. The online application process is already underway and will continue through January 30. To be eligible, candidates must also meet the required education and physical standards, apart from falling within the updated age limits.

How do candidates feel about it?

The move has been welcomed by many aspirants and jobseekers across the state. For several, the extended age range now means a second chance to take part in what is a widely sought government job opportunity.
