Noida International Airport Set to Welcome First Commercial Flights on June 15 (X)
New Delhi: On June 15, commercial flights will start to commence at Noida International Airport (Jewar). IndiGo will be the first domestic airline to operate from the new airport, officials said. The first one of the flights by IndiGo is scheduled to depart from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow at 7:05 am on June 15 and reach Noida International Airport at 8:05 am. After that, the first regular commercial flight from the airport will fly to Bengaluru.
Located in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, the airport is a major infrastructure project of the Uttar Pradesh government. Construction of the airport will further enhance the state's role as a hub for aviation, logistics, and connectivity in the country, according to the officials. The first phase of the airport has been finished, able to handle an annual passenger volume of 12 million.
Noida International Airport Phase-1 is the building of a runway, an integrated terminal building and an air traffic control (ATC) tower. On March 6, 2026, the aerodrome was licensed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The project will be carried out in four phases over an approximate area of 1,334 hectares. Once completed, Noida Airport will be handling 30 million, 50 million and 70 million passengers every year by 2031, 2036 and 2040 respectively.
Once all the four phases are completed, Noida International Airport will become one of the biggest airports in the world with five runways and an annual passenger handling capacity of 225 million, officials said. The airport will offer better amenities to passengers coming from Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.
In the near future, Indigo Airlines will be adding over 16 cities like Lucknow, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Srinagar and Pantnagar to this airport in a phased manner. The first phase of Noida Airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi this year. The Uttar Pradesh government has projected this development will generate around 100,000 jobs, both direct and indirect, and bring in a huge amount of investment in industrial, logistics, warehousing, hospitality and other related sectors.
