Sawan 2026: CM Yogi Adityanath Performs Jalabhishek At Kashi Vishwanath, Seeks Blessings At Kaal Bhairav

Varanasi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on the first day of the month of Sawan, offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi on Thursday and prayed for the prosperity, peace and well-being of the nation. 

Where did the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister visit?

On Thursday, the first day of the holy month of Sawan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed the darshan and puja of Baba Vishwanath, offered water and prayed for the well-being of the people of the nation. He also visited Kaal Bhairav Temple, which is known as the Kotwal of Kashi. 

The purpose of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's visit was to pray for happiness, prosperity, and peace in the nation during the month of Sawan.

What did CM Yogi share on social media?

The Chief Minister first visited the Kaal Bhairav Temple, often referred to as the temple of the "Kotwal of Kashi", and performed traditional rituals and participated in the temple aarti.

While sharing details of his visit, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister posted pictures on X and said he had the privilege of offering prayers at the revered shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva in the sacred city of Kashi.

“On the auspicious occasion of the month of Shravan, I had the supreme privilege today of visiting and worshipping Shri Kashi Vishwanath in Kashi, the sacred city of Mahadev, the Lord of Lords,” Yogi Adityanath wrote on X.

कर्पूरगौरं करुणावतारं
संसारसारं भुजगेन्द्रहारम्।
सदा वसन्तं हृदयारविन्दे
भवं भवानीसहितं नमामि॥

"My prayer is that, by the boundless grace of Lord Bholenath, the entire creation may flourish, the nation may steadily advance on the path of prosperity, and the lives of all people may be filled with happiness, peace, abundance and good health. Har Har Mahadev," he added. 

Was the temple crowded?

As the month of Sawan began, many devotees visited the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. The stream of visitors started arriving since early morning. From the Ganga Ghat to the temple, queues of devotees were seen. The devotees performed Jalabhishek as per the rituals and prayed for happiness and prosperity from the Lord Mahadev.  

Strict arrangements were made by the administration in view of the security considerations. Additional security forces have been deployed in the temple premises and surrounding areas to avoid any untoward incidents. Barricading and other arrangements have been made for the convenience of the devotees.
