New Delhi: The year 2025 had witnessed the rise of big batteries for smartphones as several companies broke the 5000mAh battery barrier, setting a new standard. Companies have launched phones with batteries up to 10000mAh, and 7000mAh and larger batteries are now becoming commonplace.
However, this development has primarily been seen among Chinese brands. Samsung and Apple are currently staying away from this trend. The large batteries added by various Chinese companies to their smartphones are based on silicon-carbon technology. Now, Samsung also appears to be conducting new tests in the battery department.
According to media reports, Samsung is working on a 20000mAh battery. However, there is no information on which phone this battery will be used in. The battery Samsung is testing is based on dual-cell technology and is intended for smartphones. This battery is also based on silicon-carbon technology.
Samsung has created this battery by combining two batteries of different sizes. One 12000mAh battery is in a 6.3mm form factor, while the 8000mAh battery is 4mm thick. Combined, they make a 20000mAh battery. However, the results of the testing of this battery have not been very good.
According to tipsters, this 20000mAh battery delivers 27 hours of screen-on time. On paper, this battery can survive 960 charge cycles per year. The problem lies with the battery's lifespan. Testing revealed that the battery has a very short lifespan and swells quickly.
During testing, the 8000mAh battery, which was 4mm thick, swelled to 7.2mm. This battery is not suitable for use in a smartphone. However, Samsung has not provided any official information about this. It's possible that the company may launch a phone with a larger battery in the future.
