MediaTek has revealed its highly anticipated Dimensity 9300+ chipset, set to debut at the upcoming developer's conference on May 7. The new processor is expected to offer enhanced specifications compared to the standard Dimensity 9300 SoC, with a focus on AI capabilities.

The announcement was made through a Weibo post, where MediaTek also shared information about the MediaTek Dimensity Developers Conference (MDDC) 2024. The chipset will be officially unveiled during the event, with promises of "more surprises" and a theme centered around AI.

Expected features

While official details are scarce, leaks suggest major upgrades such as an upgraded Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.4GHz, compared to the standard 3.25GHz on the Dimensity 9300. The Dimensity 9300+ is also rumored to include an AI Processing Unit (APU), likely a tweaked version of the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for enhanced AI computing.

Impact on smartphone technology

The Dimensity 9300+ is anticipated to power advanced AI features developed by smartphone brands and Android developers, focusing on on-device processing for efficient AI functionalities.

In terms of performance, the Dimensity 9300+ is positioned to be the most powerful Android smartphone processor currently available. It outperforms both its non-plus version and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in benchmark tests. Moreover, the upcoming Dimensity 9400, which is equipped with Arm Cortex-X5 technology, is rumored to provide even greater improvements and surpass the new Nuvia CPU cores of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

Partnership with Vivo X100s

Reports hint that the Vivo X100s could be one of the first smartphones equipped with the Dimensity 9300+ chipset. This aligns with the Vivo X100 series, featuring expected innovations like a Zeiss-branded rear camera island and a textured finish on the back panel, signaling potential advancements in smartphone technology.
