Nikki Serenity, a model and social media influencer with over 43,000 Instagram followers, has sparked conversations by choosing to shave only twice a year. She proudly embraces her body hair despite facing relentless online criticism. Trolls have labeled her with offensive names like "gorilla" and even claimed she would "die alone" because of her decision.
The 27-year-old influencer remains unaffected by negative comments. "I remember a woman telling me I would end up alone because of my body hair," Nikki shared. She further explained that, ironically, her choice has also attracted individuals with a body hair fetish. "Unfortunately, it has drawn in some inappropriate attention, but I simply block those people. I love the way I look and have no insecurities about it," she said.
Nikki believes her identity is much more than just her body hair. "Even when I do shave, some of my followers get upset. One person even told me I was losing everything I stood for. The truth is, while I prefer not to shave, my stance is about having the freedom to choose—whether to keep or remove body hair."
As a child, Nikki faced ridicule from her peers. "A friend once told me I looked like a gorilla," she recalled. She used to cover up her body to avoid unwanted attention and dreaded wearing shorts during gym class because her hair grew quickly. "Even a little stubble made me anxious, fearing someone would comment on it," she admitted.
Nikki's perspective shifted when she met her boyfriend, a professional photographer who frequently worked with models embracing their natural body hair. Intrigued, she decided to grow out her underarm hair for a photoshoot. "I asked him if he minded, and of course, he didn't. What started as a one-time experiment turned into something I genuinely loved."
For those tired of the constant shaving routine, Nikki offers words of encouragement. "You might find yourself feeling more confident and self-assured, just as I did. But if it's not for you, that’s okay too. Just be yourself and don’t be ashamed of things that don’t matter or hurt anyone. After all, it's just hair—we all have it!"
