Trending News: A man shared how the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) unexpectedly helped his wife get back her lost mobile phone from a battery rickshaw. The couple posted the story on the social media platform Reddit. He shared it on the r/UPI subreddit under the title “UPI helped my wife in getting her phone back,” describing the sequence of events as nothing short of a miracle.
As they were giving up hope, the man got a notification that one rupee had been credited to his account. It was from the rickshaw driver, along with a message: “plz call (his contact number).” “I couldn’t believe my eyes,” he wrote. “I called him right away, and he was waiting. He told us to stay where we were, came, and returned the phone. I thanked him and gave him some extra cash. If I had paid in cash instead of UPI, there was no way he could have contacted me. It was UPI that helped us get the phone back.”
The Reddit post quickly got many comments, with users appreciating both the driver’s honesty and the role of technology. One said, “Happy for you. Good rickshaw guy.” Another joked, “Alternate title – Auto driver helped my wife get her phone back.” The man replied, “Yes, but without UPI, there was no way to reach him.” Other comments included, “Got lucky with the auto driver,” while someone else wrote, “It’s not the UPI, it’s the driver’s honesty.” Many praised the driver’s integrity, with one advising, “Please tip the auto driver if you can. God bless him.”
