Stand-Up Comedian Loses Job After Viral 'corporate bahu' Reel Targets Manager and HR: 'Khudhi Fielding Khud Hi Set Karli' (Instagram)
New Delhi: A stand-up comedian Ajay Sharma Chinta, about three months ago posted a funny video about his company and the manager that landed him in trouble as he got fired upon claiming he is a “corporate bahu".
He was sacked from his job after a video of him mocking his manager and HR went viral on social media.
Ajay Sharma Chinta posted an Instagram reel of his act that quickly caught attention online.
In the video, the comedian is jokingly comparing his office to a traditional family drama, calling his manager as “saas” (mother-in-law) and the HR team as the "husband".
In the video, he jokes about how his boss kept track of every move he made, much like a strict mother-in-law. He joked that HR treated him not as an employee, but as someone “married into the family” with unrealistic expectations.
The clip drew millions of views online, but also reached his workplace.
“My company fired me. I had made a reel with the name of ‘corporate bahu (bride)’ and the reel went viral, and they fired me. If you also make reels online, don’t do it. They take it very seriously and release you from the company. Be careful what you say online," the comedian said.
On social media, reactions were mixed. Some viewers called the firing harsh and said humour should be tolerated.
“You never know what blows up online or who gets offended,” Chinta later warned other comedians and employees in a follow-up message.
Others backed the company’s choice, saying internal jokes that go public can harm relationships and reputation.
