Tamil Nadu: A major turning point in Tamil Nadu politics came when Congress decided to help form the government by supporting Vijay's party TVK. TVK emerged as the largest party in the assembly elections by winning 108 seats but fell 10 seats short of the majority figure of 118. How did Karti Chidambaram respond to DMK's allegations?

Congress leader Karti Chidambaram termed DMK's allegations unfortunate. Speaking to India Today TV, he said that some people are not able to understand the politics of a post-poll alliance.

He said that it is common in democracy for parties with different ideologies to come together to form the government after elections. Giving the example of European politics, he said that sometimes opposition parties also come together to provide a stable government.

Karti Chidambaram is confident that DMK chief M. K. Stalin is an old and wise leader; he will understand this political environment very well. Karti said that there is nothing surprising in this; it is just a natural part of politics.
He also made it clear that the real effort of Congress is to give a strong and secular government to Tamil Nadu. His argument was simple: if no one supports after the elections, how will the government be formed?
