Congress Backs Vijay-Led TVK To Form Government In Tamil Nadu After Hung Verdict

Chennai: The election results in Tamil Nadu shocked the entire country. Vijay's party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam i.e. TVK, which entered politics directly from the film screen, surprised everyone by winning 108 seats. But the magical figure of 118 is still 10 steps away and these 10 seats have now become the pivot of entire Tamil Nadu politics.

According to sources, Tamil Nadu Congress has made up its mind to support TVK. The party believes that it is necessary to form a secular government in the state and for that, supporting Vijay would be the right step. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal made it clear that Vijay has sought support from the party and the right to take a decision on this has been given to the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee. An important meeting was held at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday evening in which Rahul Gandhi and Tamil Nadu in-charge Girish Chodankar were also present. There was a deep discussion on the situation after the elections and the options for government formation.

Why is Congress so cautious about BJP?

KC Venugopal bluntly said that any government formed in Tamil Nadu with the help of BJP or any of its allies will not get the support of Congress. The party says that the public has voted in favor of a secular government and that sentiment should be respected.
