Travel ending - Sawan Shivaratri

The Kavad Yatra ends on the day of Sawan Shivaratri. Sawan Shivaratri will be celebrated on 23 July 2025 in the year 2025. On this day, the journey is completed by performing Ganga water on Shivling.

Sawan Monday fast dates

Monday fast has special significance in Sawan month. A total of 5 Mondays will come in Sawan in the year 2025:

Religious importance of Kavad Yatra

Do not keep the kavad on the ground - Kavad is not kept on the ground until Ganga water is offered. Naming and behavior-Each other is addressed as "Bhola", women are called "naive". Bhajan-kirtan, mantra chanting and Lord Shiva are worshiped during the journey.  Most devotees travel on foot. Travel by vehicle is considered against rules.
