Auto News: If you are thinking of buying a new petrol SUV, then five new models from Maruti, Hyundai, and Tata are coming for you in the next 2-3 months. Maruti Suzuki will launch its second offering in the mid-size SUV segment, while Hyundai is ready with the third-generation Venue with design and feature upgrades.
Tata Motors will expand its petrol lineup with three new SUVs along with the updated Punch, Harrier Petrol, and Safari Petrol. Let us tell you in detail about the petrol engines and specifications of these five cars. These cars can be launched in the market by November 2025.
Maruti Escudo is the widely used name of the Indo-Japanese carmaker's upcoming mid-size SUV, which will be given a new name at the time of launch. It will be based on the Grand Vitara but will be sold exclusively through Arena dealerships. The Escudo can be given a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-liter petrol-hybrid, and a CNG engine taken from the Grand Vitara. It will have both manual and automatic gearboxes.
The next-generation Hyundai Venue may retain the existing engine setup and come with improved styling and new features. This subcompact SUV currently comes in three engine options—a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-liter turbo petrol, and a 1.5-liter diesel. Talking about the features, the new Venue can get a dual 12.3-inch screen setup, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and an updated ADAS suite.
The 2025 Tata Punch facelift could be inspired by the Punch EV. It could include a larger touchscreen, a touch-based HVAC panel, and a new steering wheel, along with some other features. The updated Punch will be powered by a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 87 bhp and 115 Nm. The transmission option could also change—i.e., 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT.
The petrol variants of the Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs can also be launched in the month of November. Both models will have Tata's all-new 1.5-liter TGDi turbo petrol engine, which is tuned to generate a maximum of 170 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. The new petrol engine will come with both manual and automatic gearboxes. No major changes are expected in the design or any other changes.
