Patna: A total of 29 significant proposals were approved during the Bihar Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. These decisions will impact various sectors, including sports, tourism, land management, mining, road safety, and social welfare. The government states that these decisions will accelerate development schemes and create new opportunities for the youth.
The most prominent decision of the meeting concerned the direct recruitment of outstanding athletes. The Cabinet approved the revised ‘Bihar Outstanding Sportspersons Direct Recruitment Rules-2026’. Under these rules, athletes who have demonstrated remarkable performance at national and international levels will be appointed to government service based on their achievements.
According to the new system, Olympic medalists, athletes who have represented India at the Olympics, members of the Indian cricket team, and gold medalists from the Asian and Commonwealth Games will be eligible for appointments to posts at Pay Level-09. Separate pay scales have also been determined for athletes in other categories, commensurate with their achievements.
The state government has decided to partially relax restrictions regarding the purchase, sale, and leasing of land in greenfield satellite township areas. Now, under special circumstances, the Bihar State Housing Board, government bodies, and authorized investors will be eligible to purchase or lease land. The government believes this move will boost investment and open up new avenues for employment generation.
