Banks to Remain Closed for Five Straight Days From Feb 28 on Holi Holidays (OpenAi)
New Delhi: Bank customers may have to change their plans before handling work at the branch level in the next few days, as the RBI has declared bank holidays at many places for five consecutive days from February 28 to March 4. The reason for these holidays is Holi and regular weekly holidays, due to which bank branches will remain closed in many cities.
All banks will remain closed on the fourth Saturday (28th Feb) of the month. After that, there will be no work due to March 1 being a Sunday. There will be holidays (bank holidays) in some areas on the occasion of Holika Dahan on March 2 and banks will remain closed in many big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Patna and Kolkata on March 3 on the day of Holi. Similarly, on March 4, the second day of Holi, bank branches will remain closed in most cities.
These bank holidays do not occur simultaneously in the entire country. Some states and cities also declare holidays on different days depending on festivals and local occasions. Therefore, it is important to check the list of holidays according to your city or state in advance so that any important work related to the bank does not get stuck in the middle.
According to the official list of RBI, there will be no work in banks for a total of 18 days in March 2026 due to various reasons, which includes both weekends and festivals. Due to this, customers are being advised to settle bank related transactions and work in advance.
Although banks will remain closed at the branch level, digital banking, mobile apps, internet banking, NEFT/RTGS and ATM services will remain available as normal even during the holidays. This will give customers the option to complete account transactions and other important tasks online.
Experts say that if a person has to go to the branch on a particular date to submit documents, make a cash transaction or need a certificate, then he should complete his work before February 28, because bank branches will remain closed before and after Holi. The detailed state-specific list of holidays is available on the RBI website.
