Various measures have been taken by India following the escalation of tension on the border. These include the temporary shut-down of nearly 25 airports in the northern and western regions of the country. Nevertheless, hundreds of flights have also been canceled as a result of this. Are you aware of what is happening in your town?
Over 400 flights have been cancelled across the country under this security campaign. This decision has been made in order to ensure passengers' safety and for the sake of maintaining seamless security of airports. This has created inconvenience for the passengers, but priority has been given to safety. All such flights have been cancelled until May 10.
Besides this, these closures have been implemented in the northern and western regions of the nation. These consist of Leh, Jammu, Amritsar, Pathankot, Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Shimla, Dharamshala and Jamnagar apart from Srinagar.
Passengers whose flights have been cancelled or rescheduled are advised to contact their airline and get the latest information. Also, be sure to check your flight status before heading to the airport.
Now the question arises whether people will get a refund on flight cancellation? Air India and Air India Express have given full refund and rescheduling discounts to soldiers and armed forces staff on cancellation of tickets. Delhi airport has announced in its advisory that travelers can depart for the airport only after verifying the flight status. All operations at the terminal and on all 4 runways are going on normally. Flights have been affected, though, due to variable airspace conditions.
