People hate me for spending 80-100 hours at work, no WFH for Navi: Sachin Bansal

Sachin Bansal, the co-founder of Flipkart, is known for his intense work ethic and has said that he puts in 80-100 hours a week working on his new fintech startup Navi. He seems to deeply committed with this demanding schedule which reportedly includes weekends and no option for working from home for his employees. Bansal acknowledges that this approach may not be popular with everyone and even admits to some employees potentially disliking him for it.

In one of his recent interviews with a media house, Bansal said, “People hate me. There is no work from home and then you must come on weekends. I am spending 80-100 hours.”

The Navi founder further said that sometimes, his employees also hate him but he does not expect others to spend this much time.

He asserted that developing a business requires attention to small details.

Talking about working from home, Bansal said that this option was a temporary one for him during the time of the Covid-19 pandemic but his startup does not have space for work from home now. 

Additionally, he stated that he has completely stopped working as an angel investor since he is so committed to seeing Navi succeed as a firm. In the upcoming months, Bansal added, Navi will resurrect its preparations for an IPO. 

The company's cost of capital is slightly greater, so the plan is to proceed cautiously, he continued. According to him, measures are in place to lower the cost of capital to expand the market and raise the competitiveness of the product. 

According to him, Navi is creating a long-term home lending company. After leaving Flipkart, Sachin Bansal established the financial firm Navi in 2018 following Walmart deal. Navi offers gold, insurance, mutual funds, personal and house loans, and UPI.
