Mithun Chakraborty battles back: Actor recovering after Ischemic Cerebrovascular Stroke diagnosis

The concerned hospital released an official statement with the most recent health status of legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty, who was admitted on February 10.

Following his admission to a hospital in Kolkata on Saturday morning due to complaints of chest pain, according to the hospital's most recent health update, the veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty has been diagnosed with an ischemic cerebrovascular accident (stroke) of the brain.

The National Award-winning actor was brought to the Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals Emergency Department in Kolkata around 9.40 a.m. with complaints of weakness in the right upper and lower limbs. Necessary laboratory and radiology investigations were carried out, including an MRI of the brain. Later, he was diagnosed with an ischemic cerebrovascular accident (stroke) of the brain. Presently, he is said to be fully conscious, well-oriented, and on a soft diet.

Under the medical radar

Mithun was brought to the hospital on Saturday, where an MRI and other tests had previously been reported by the hospital spokesperson. "Mithun Chakraborty has been admitted this morning and is undergoing medical evaluation. We will be able to provide further details later," the hospital spokesperson said. The statement went on to say that the actor is being treated by a number of medical professionals at the hospital, including a gastroenterologist, cardiologist, and neuro-physician.

The 73-year-old actor, who announced the honoree of the prestigious Padma Award—the Padma Bhushan—in January, said in a video message last month, "After a lot of struggle and hard work, I have finally received such an honour... It is a feeling I cannot express. I am dedicating this to all my fans in India and abroad, who have given me unconditional love." Mithun was most recently seen as a judge on the dance reality show Dance Bangla Dance, alongside Mouni Roy, Subhashree Ganguly, Srabanti Chatterjee, and Puja Banerjee.
