New Delhi: At the meeting of National Security Advisors (NSAs) from BRICS nations, the resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms was reiterated. They acknowledged the use of new technologies by terrorists and agreed to counter this collectively. During the meeting held in Delhi on Tuesday, security advisors and representatives shared their views on the security challenges facing the world.
Discussions also covered the new technologies employed by terrorist groups. The security advisors reviewed the work of the BRICS Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism (held on May 22) and the Working Group on the Security of Information and Communication Technologies (held on June 8–9). All security officials pledged support for further enhancing BRICS cooperation—specifically by strengthening member capacities, increasing information sharing, and improving coordination among law enforcement agencies to jointly combat terrorism and cyber threats. They unanimously reaffirmed their commitment to countering terrorism in all its forms and the new technologies utilized by such groups.
Additionally, they discussed energy security, food security, and supply chain security. The meeting also addressed issues regarding instability arising from cybersecurity threats and climate-related risks. The BRICS NSAs also reiterated their support for India's chairmanship.
The BRICS NSAs also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi was present at the meeting, while NSAs or representatives from all member nations—including Russia and Iran—participated.
