World News: The family of John George, a 37-year-old father of two from Belfast, was left to go through weeks of agony after he disappeared while on holiday in Alicante, Spain. John was last known to have contact with his family on December 14. They had already filed a missing report immediately after he failed to return on schedule four days later, missing his scheduled flight home. The body of the missing individual found yesterday evening spurred the family and friends to join an early search this week. Spanish police confirmed the remains to belong to John George, a sorry end to a long search.

Family welcomes crowds who came to express support

On Friday afternoon, the George family returned to Belfast International Airport, accompanied by Billy and Sharon, his parents, brother Darren, and sisters Courtney and Caitlin. They were met with support by the people thronging the area, applauding and embracing them. The father, Billy George, thanked the overwhelming public support for their son, saying they could never repay all those who had contributed to finding him.

Determined Search and Hopes for Justice

Billy George shares a very emotional journey in detailing how he would have continued to search if John's body had not been found. He mentions walking hours a day searching for his son under tough and sometimes dangerous conditions. Today, he focuses on bringing John home for a Christian burial and getting justice for the loss of his son. It's never going to be the same without John, but at least he'll be home in Belfast, where he belongs," he says.

Continued investigation

Police in Northern Ireland are liaising with police in Spain regarding the case. They request that any footage, among other pieces of information that could clear events surrounding the killing of John, be sent over to them.
