Russia
International News: The war between Russia and Ukraine is not stopping. On the one hand, both countries hold peace talks under the pressure of US President Donald Trump, but their effect is never seen on the battlefield. Both countries fire drones and missiles indiscriminately at each other, the pain of which the people of both countries are unable to forget. Recently, Russia wreaked such havoc on Kiev from the sky that 31 people, including five children, died, and more than 150 people were injured.
Cries and wailings can be heard all over Kiev. The capital is in mourning, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy marked an official day of mourning on Friday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the youngest victim in Thursday's attacks was two years old, and that 16 children were among the injured. According to official figures, this is the highest number of children killed and injured in a single attack on Kyiv since airstrikes began on the city in October 2022.
Russian bombardment destroyed a large section of a nine-story residential building in the city, while more than 100 other buildings were damaged, including homes, schools, kindergartens, medical facilities, and universities, officials said. Russia has stepped up its attacks on Ukrainian cities in recent months, ignoring calls from Western leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump, to stop attacks on civilian areas after more than three years of war.
Zelensky said that in July Russia had fired more than 5,100 glide bombs, more than 3,800 drones, and about 260 missiles of various types against Ukraine, of which 128 were ballistic missiles. The Ukrainian president reiterated his call for countries to impose tougher economic sanctions on Russia to deter it, as US-led peace efforts have failed. "No matter how much the Kremlin denies the effectiveness of (sanctions), they are working, and they must be strengthened," Zelensky said.
